PhD student awarded SPIE scholarship

PhD student Praveen Ashok has been awarded a $5000 scholarship from the International Society for Optics and Photonics for his work in photonics. Ashok is pursuing his research  in the optical manipulation group at the School of Physics and Astronomy under the supervision of Professor Kishan Dholakia. Ashok’s research looks at the use of laser light in biological and medical applications. He is using micro-optics, micro-fluidics and Raman spectroscopy to produce miniature and effective 'lab-on-a-chip' devices. [More]
