Professor Ian Boyd, of the
School of Biology, has been awarded the
Buckland Professorship for 2012, which aims to advance the understanding of the current problems facing commercial fisheries. Frank Buckland (d. 1880), in whose memory the Professorship was established, had dedicated his life to the improvement, through greater public awareness, of the commercial fisheries of the British Isles.
