St Andrews Prize for the Environment winner announced

The 2011 St Andrews Prize for the Environment of $75,000 was presented to Jonathan den Hartog, of BioLite, for an innovative cookstove, which reduces emissions by up to 95% and provides electricity for charging small appliances in rural areas. Two runners up each received $25,000. The St Andrews Prize is an environmental initiative by the University of St Andrews and ConocoPhillips. The Prize, launched in 1998, recognises significant contributions to environmental conservation and typically attracts entries from over 50 countries. [Press link]
