'Film Festivals and East Asia' Book Launch

St Andrews FilmStudies recent publication, Film Festival Yearbook 3: Film Festivals andEast Asia, received its official launch this month at the prestigious Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea. Co-editor Ruby Cheung (with Dina Iordanova) was in attendance together with three of the book’s contributors, Chris Fujiwara, Julian Stringer and James Bell. The event attracted significant attention amongst festival-goers and also within the Korean press. A report on the event was posted on the festival’s website  and in the Chonbuk Daily newspaper.

Film festivals flourishing in the the East

Exciting new developments in world cinema and film festivals is happening in East Asian countries according to researchers at St Andrews. New research suggests that the red carpet glamour of film festivals, traditionally associated with festivals like Cannes, are occuring in the East where the most important film festivals are driving booming film markets.
